Helping Farmers

One evening in May scores of years ago, President Kim Il Sung was passing a farm in Jaeryong County.

As he looked out of the car window at the fields along the way, he saw farmers transplanting rice seedlings with a machine on a plot.

Impressed to see them working even at dusk, he told his chauffer to stop the car and turn the headlight to the field.

As light flooded the field, the farmers became more enthusiastic and pressed on with their work.

When they learned that it was Kim Il Sung who was helping them, they started to stop the machine.

But Kim Il Sung told them to make one more round. He then waited for them to finish, watching them at the roadside.

Many years have passed since then, but the Korean agricultural workers still remember the light of that day as a symbol of his care for them.
